FINPEDMED has 14 Expert Boards which are responsible for evaluating and answering incoming Service Requests assigned to them. Expert Board evaluations of Service Requests are available for both Category 2 and 1 requests - the latter as proposed at the discretion of the FINPEDMED Office. See also: Terms of FINPEDMED Services.
Expert Board evaluations are not official decisions and they are not binding in any respect. Expert Board members act as independent individuals representing the Board's respective pediatric subspecialties and give opinions as FINPEDMED Expert Board members. Expert Board members have signed an individual Confidentiality Undertaking document that applies to all Expert Board consultations. Declaration of Interests of Expert Board member needs to be requested separately; Description of Expert Board Services.
Expert Boards can give opinions on pediatric clinical trial protocols and specified feasibilities reflecting these from the point of view of medical practice, standard of care, disease prevalence, number of patients, and general feasibility in Finland. The requester (i.e. the Sponsor) decides how many Experts are needed and how many subspecialties need to be represented in the assignment. In the end, the outcome of the assignment may be presented as a statement (Expert Report) or other equivalent written document expected or preferred by the requester.
Expert Board services are charged as per FINPEDMED Service Fees. Payments are determined based on the scope of the assignment. All payments are administered through CRI HUCH Ltd.
